About Ballet Festival Plovdiv.

Even that Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria the initiative and ambition for a children ballet festival is great. With the first edition of the Festival a tremendous creative atmosphere is created and many young talents are given the chance to perform on stage. The organization of the Festival and the performances had a remarkable success. This way a new standards in the development of children ballet art has been set – keeping the ballet classical dance, popularizing the children ballet art and finding new talents and brilliant choreographies. All performances at the Festival, collective or individual or duet participations are based on the classical ballet dance. Ballet schools, ballet studios or groups and dance schools for ballet are all allowed to participate in the Festival and share their art. There is no mandatory dance repertoire which means all participants could choose their own music and choreography to perform.
Organization
The organization of the Festival takes into account the age of the participants where the age limit is up to 18 years old. Rehearsals on stage and stage support are provided for all participants during the Festival. A special score system based on the votes from a professional and children jury has been developed. The Average score from both juries give the final result.
The organizers of the Festival cover the accommodation of the participants during the Festival providing hotel and food.
By tradition the Festival is held every second year from 1st to 4th of June. During the Festival open lessons for participants and open lessons for the ballet pedagogues are organized where the themes of the open lessons are always different. Those open lessons are conducted by one of the best ballet pedagogues and choreographers in Bulgaria. Those open lessons are free of charge and open for anyone to attend. The Festival is organized by Municipality Plovdiv, Buratino Ballet Foundation and Ballet Studio Buratino. Ballet Studio Buratino will provide its rehearsal halls to the participants and also the children jury will be elected among the students from Ballet Studio Buratino. The Manager of Ballet Studio Buratino is Masha Ivanova – also the ballet pedagogue of the Studio. The Artistic Director responsible for the preparation of the open lessons is Meglena Jordanova.
All awards are provided by the noble sponsorship and help of bulgarіan and foreіgn legal and natural perѕonѕ. All participants to the Festival upon arrival in Plovdiv receive presents with the distinctive marks and signs of the Festival. Participants from abroad that arrive at the airports in Bulgaria are provided with a guide and transport that will take them to their hotel in Plovdiv. For the guests and participants of the Festival also a walk to the historical and archeological part of Plovdiv are organized. The organizers also provide videos and photos from the performances during the Festival. The Festival ends up with a Gala Concert of the Awarded Participants.
